Vestry

​In order to manage the corporal affairs of St. James, a group of 5 to 9 members of the congregation are elected by the church's membership at the Annual Meeting and are given the title of Vestry.  Parishioners, 16 years of age or older, baptized, confirmed, communicants in good standing who are already spiritual, fiduciary, and temporal leaders of the parish are nominated by the outgoing members of the Vestry to the Annual Meeting and are elected for a two year term.

Each year, the rector appoints a member of the vestry to serve as Senior Warden.  The Senior Warden is responsible for managing all church affairs in the absence of the Rector.  Another officer, elected by the Vestry, is the Junior Warden who is charged with caring for all church facilities. In addition, members of the vestry are appointed as liaison to various organizations that fall under the categories of Worship, Christian Formation, Mission & Outreach, and Church Governance.
